Abstract drawing of spine with loops that look like string as an illustration of online Feldenkrais Method lessons for Spine Like a Chain

with Assistant Teacher

Raz Ori

This unique on-demand program for Feldenkrais Practitioners explores a special series of Awareness Through Movement lessons that Dr. Feldenkrais called the 'Spine Like a Chain' lessons. Feldenkrais developed and fully realized this series of original ATM lessons during the San Francisco and Amherst training programs. There are at least a dozen rich and fascinating ATM's in this group. They are brilliant lessons, which build in complexity, and represent ideas about function and mobility that are central to Dr. Feldenkrais' approach. These important lessons address fundamental human functions, including; the transfer of weight through the skeleton, transfer of force through the spine, the effective mobilization of the anti-gravity function, the connection between the head, pelvis, and legs and the essential value of a precise image of action.

This program with David Zemach-Bersin and Raz Ori delves deeply into the 'Spine Like a Chain' series with ATM's and discussions. You will explore the strategies behind the lessons, the connections between them, relevant anatomy, and the many possible Functional Integration applications. An understanding of the 'Spine Like Chain' lessons is essential to our full application of Dr. Feldenkrais' theories and methodology.

In this program, David also shares some of his teaching notes to enrich your learning experience, as well as a couple of relevant lectures by Dr. Feldenkrais, a listing of original source materials, and additional ATM lessons which could be considered in the Spine Like a Chain 'family' of ATM lessons.

Program includes:

  • Eight Awareness Through Movement lessons
  • Two FI demos by Moshe Feldenkrais
  • One post-workshop Q&A
  • Four discussions
  • Supplemental materials
  • Lifetime access to recordings
  • Option to download recordings
