In early childhood, each human being experiences a natural developmental process, or gradual 'unfolding.' This process is biologically intelligent, following a logical and sequential path regardless of our individual differences. During this time, many of our habitual patterns of moving, sensing, and feeling are established—some of which can affect us profoundly for the rest of our lives.

It is our great pleasure to present guest teacher Garet Newell with a six-week series of Feldenkrais classes designed to give you an opportunity to revisit this very important, foundational developmental process. As you explore the progressive stages of development with the lessons in this series—from organizing the movements of your neck and head to rolling over and making the transition from sitting to standing—you will have opportunities to discover better organization and refine some of the patterns that influence so much of your daily life. The lessons will help you to rejuvenate your potential for moving with minimal expenditure of effort and maximum ease and pleasure.

We invite you to join Feldenkrais Teacher Garet Newell for a 'classic' adventure in the Feldenkrais Method. If you have challenges with balance or with the transitions involved in getting up and down from the floor, this series will help you to feel more confident. If you are recovering from an injury or illness, it will help you refresh your nervous system. And, if you are feeling depleted or exhausted, this series will help you to find ways to feel rejuvenated. With a greater appreciation of the organic learning that takes place during this key time in our lives, you will also be a better support for anyone caring for a baby.

This series will help you to:
  • Feel an ease in being upright
  • Feel taller and lighter
  • Feel more contact with the ground
  • Feel the power of moving from your center
  • Improve the coordination of walking and running
  • Balance more easily
  • Sit more comfortably
  • Move more efficiently from the floor to sitting and then to standing

"With the help of these lessons, I've made huge strides in terms of improved posture, ease of movement and mental and physical well-being. The improvements are largely permanent because once a new way of moving is experienced, that new capacity is absorbed and becomes habitual."
